Extraordinary Measures for Extraordinary Times
"Whatever you do for even the
least of these, my brothers, you do for me"
Matthew 25:40
In May 2010, Cooperative Christian Ministry Board of Directors was asked by the Board of Trustees of Family Promise of Cabarrus County to consider integrating the Family Promise Church Based Services model into the Shelter and Housing Ministry program of CCM. The Boards established a task group to study the request and make a recommendation. In August the task group recommended the integration which was unanimously approved by both Boards and My Father's House, the new name for the church based ministry for the homeless was unveiled in October 2010.
My Father's House provides homeless families that have children under the age of 18 with the following services:
My Father’s House relies on area congregations to provide overnight accommodations and meals for homeless families, while Cooperative Christian Ministry provides staff support and access to other resources. A Day Center is provided to give the families access to such necessities as: showers, laundry, kitchen, nursery, computer and telephone. Transportation is provided each day between the Day Center and the congregations which provide sleeping accommodations.
